Mark ~ ማርቆስ:  The name “Mark” means the grace of God / SBD, (ሥራ 12:12)

The name ‘Mark’ is derived from ‘Mruq’ (ምሩቅ) ፥ the root word is ‘Mereqe’ (መረቀ) ፥ the meaning is ‘the blessed one’ / Ibid.

“... he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.” (Act 12:12)

ማርቆስ ~Marcus, Mark: ምሩቅ ዋስ፣ ምሩቅ፣ የተመረቀ፣ የተባረከ፣ ትሁት፣ ምስጉን ማለት ነው።

‘ምሩቅ’ እና ‘ዋስ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

·                     ማርቆስ /Marcus: የቅዱስ ጳውሎስ አገልጋይ የነበረ፥ “ሉቃስ ብቻ ከእኔ ጋር አለ። ማርቆስ ለአገልግሎት ብዙ ይጠቅመኛልና ...” (ጢሞ 4:11)፣ (ፊል1:24)፣ “ከተገረዙት ወገን ያሉት፥ የበርናባስ የወንድሙ ልጅ ማርቆስ...” (ቆላ 4:10)

·                     ማርቆስ / Mark: “በእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት ከጳውሎስ ጋር አብረው የሚሠሩት ማርቆስ የተባለው ዮሐንስ፥” (ሥራ 12:12)
