The name ‘Abaddon’ is derived from ‘Abdany’ (አብዳኝ) ፥ the root words ‘Ab’ (አብ) and ‘Dany’ (ዳኝ) ፥ the meaning ‘the highest Judge; the last judgement’/ Ibid.

Sheol, the realm of the dead, “…And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.” (Rev 9:11)

ዓብዶን ~Abaddon, Abdon: አብድ ዶን፣ አብደ ዳኛ፣ የዳኛ አገልጋይ፣ አገልጋይ ዳኛ፣ የመጨረሻ ፍርድ አስፈጻሚ ማለት ነው።

‘አብደ’ እና ‘ዳኘ’ ከሚሉ ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

I.      ዓብዶን /Abaddon:

·   የገሃነም መልአክ ስም፥ “በእነርሱም ላይ ንጉሥ አላቸው እርሱም የጥልቅ መልአክ ነው፥ ስሙም በዕብራይስጥ አብዶን በግሪክም አጶልዮን ይባላል።” (ራእ 9፡11)

·   በኢዮብ መጽሐፍ ጥፋት ይላል፥ “ጥፋትና ሞት- (ኢዮ 26:6)

·   የመጬረሻ ፍርድ፥ “ሲኦልና ጥፋት- (ምሳ 15:11) ፣ “ሲኦልና ጥፋት- (ምሳ 27:20)

II.      ዓብዶን /Abdon:

1.በእስራኤል ላይ ፈራጅ የነበረ፣ የሂሌል ልጅ፥ “ከእርሱም በኋላ የጲርዓቶናዊው የሂሌል ልጅ ዓብዶን በእስራኤል ላይ ፈራጅ ሆነ። በዚህ ስም የሚጠሩ ሦስት ሰዎች አንድ ከተማ አሉ” (መሣ 12፡13)

2.የይዒኤል ልጅ፥ “ዔቤር፥ ኤሊኤል፥ ዓብዶን፥ ዝክሪ፥” (1 ዜና 8:23)

የስሙ ምንጭ ‘አረያ’ የሚለው ልቃ ነው።

I.      አሮን /Aaron: የሙሴ ወንድም ሁኖ  እናቱ ያቆቢድ ፤ አባቱ አምራም ፤ እህቱ ደግሞ ማርያም ይባላሉ። (ዘጸ 4:14)

II.      አሮንቤት /Aaronites: ዮዳሄ አለቃ የሆነበት፥ (1 ዜና 12:27)
