The name ‘Hoshea’ is derived from ‘Wasie’ (ዋሴ) ፥ the meaning is ‘my saver’ / Ibid.

The son of Nun, i.e. Joshua, “And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.” (Deut 32:44)

The other person with the same name: One of the heads of the people who sealed the covenant with Nehemiah (Neh 10:23)

I.                        ኢያሱ /Hoshea:

1.                  የነዌ ልጅ፥ “ሙሴም የነዌም ልጅ ኢያሱ የዚህችን መዝሙር ቃሎች ሁሉ በሕዝቡ ጆሮ ተናገሩ።” (ዘዳ 32፡44)

2.                  የዓዛዝያ ልጅ፥ ሆሴዕ- (1 ዜና 27:20)

3.                  ከነህምያ ጋር የቃል ኪዳኑን ደብዳቤ ያተመ፥ ሆሴዕ- (ነህ 10:23)

II.                        ኢያሱ /Jehoshua: ከኤፍሬም ነገድ የሆነ፥ የነዌ ልጅ፥ “ምድሪቱን ይሰልሉ ዘንድ ሙሴ የላካቸው ሰዎች ስም ይህ ነው። ሙሴም የነዌን ልጅ አውሴን ኢያሱ ብሎ ጠራው” (ዘኁ  13፡16) ፣ (1 ዜና 7:27)

III.                        ኢያሱ /Jeshua:

1.                  ለዘጠነኛው ሊቀ ካህናት የነበረ፥ ኢያሱ፥ (ዕዝ2:36) ፣ (1 ዜና 24:11).

2.                  በንጉሡም በሕዝቅያስና በእግዚአብሔር ቤት አለቃ በዓዛርያስ ትእዛዝ፥ በካህናቱ ከተሞች በየሰሞናቸው ክፍላቸውን በእምነት ይሰጡ ከተመደቡ፥ (2 ዜና 31:15)

3.                  የባቢሎን ንጉሥ ናቡከደነፆር ወደ ባቢሎን ከማረካቸው ምርኮኞች ወደ ኢየሩሳሌምና ወደ ይሁዳ ወደ እየከተማቸው ከተመለሱት የአገር ልጆች፥ (ዕዝ 2:6፥ ዕዝ 7:11)

4.                  የባቢሎን ንጉሥ ናቡከደነፆር ወደ ባቢሎን ከማረካቸው ምርኮኞች ወደ ኢየሩሳሌምና ወደ ይሁዳ ወደ እየከተማቸው ከተመለሱት የአገር ልጆች፥ (ዕዝ 2:40፥ ነህ 7:43)

5.                  ሌዊያዊ፥ (ዕዝ 8:33)

6.                  ከባቢሎን መልስ የኢየሩሳሌምን ቅጥር ካደሱ፥ (ነህ 3:19)

7.                  ዕዝራ የእግዚአብሔር ማወቅ ሲያስተምር፥ የእግዚአብሔርን ሕግ መጽሐፍ ካአነበቡ፥ (ነህ 8:7፥ 9:4፣5)
