The name ‘Shemaiah’ is derived from ‘Smeyah’ (ስመያህ) ፥ the root words
are ‘Sma’
(ስማ) and ‘Yah’ (ያህ) ፥ the meaning is ‘Jehovah heared’/

ሳማያ ~Shemaiah: ሰማ ያህ፣ ሰማ አምላክ፣ እግዚአብሔር አዳመጠ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ሰሜኢ፣ ሸማያ]
‘ሰማ’ እና ‘ያህ’(ያህዌ ፣ ህያው) ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተገኘ ስም ነው።
በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሦስት ሰዎች አሉ።
