Sela-hammahlekoth ~ ማምለጥ ዓለት: The cliff of escapes or of divisions / EBD, (1 ሳሙ 23:28)

The name ‘Selahammahlekoth’ is derived from ‘Sle’ (ስለ) and ‘Ha’melekot’ (መለኮት) ፥ the meaning is ‘on behalf of the almighty lord’ / Ibid.

Cliff of divisions the name of the great gorge which lies between Hachilah and Maon, “Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.” (1 Sam 23:28)

ማምለጥዓለት ~Sela-hammahlekoth: ሳለ መለኮት፣ ስለ መለኮት፣ ስለፈጣሪ፣ ስለ እግዚአብሔር ማለት ነው።

Sela-hammahlekoth- ‘ስለ’ እና ‘መለኮት’ ከሚሉ ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

ፍልስጥኤማውያን አገሩን በመውረራቸው፥ ዳዊት ከሳዖል ለማምለጥ የቻለ መንገድ፥ “...ስለዚህ የዚህ ስፍራ ስም የማምለጥ ዓለት ተባለ” (1ሳሙ 23:28)
