Sheba ~ ሳባ፣ ሳቤዔ: an oath, seven / SBD, (ዘፍ 10:7)

The name ‘Sheba’ is derived from ‘Seba’ (ሰባ) ፥ the meaning is ‘man’ (human) / Ibid.

The son of Bichri, a Benjamite, “And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri ...” (2 Sam 20:1)

Other people with the same name are: The famous well which gave its name to the city of Beersheba, “And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.” (Gen 10:7);  A son of Joktan (Gen 10:28); A son of Jokshan, who was a son of Abraham by Keturah (Gen 25:3); “And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day.” (Gen 26:33); Heb. shebha', "seven" or "an oak" A town of Simeon (Jos 19:2)

ሳባ ~Seba, Sheba: ሳባ፣ ሰባ፣ ሰብዓ፣ ሰብ፣ ሰው ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ሰበንያ፣ ሰብታ፣ ሰንበት፣ ሳባ ሰዎች፣ ሳባታይ፣ ሳባጥ፣ ሳቤህ ፣ ሳቤዔ፣ ሴባ፣ ሤባ፣ ጸባዖት]

‘ሰብዓ’ ከሚለው ግስ የመጣ ስም ነው።

I.                        ሳባ /Seba:

1.                  የኩሽ ልጅ ሳባ፥ “የኩሽም ልጆች ሳባ፥ ኤውላጥ፥ ሰብታ...” (ዘፍ 10:7)

2.                  ሳባውያን፥ (ኢሳ 43:3)

II.                        ሳባ /Sheba:

1.                  የራዕማ ልጅ ሳባ፥ ሳባ፥ “... የራዕማ ልጆችም ሳባ፥ ድዳን ናቸው።” (ዘፍ 10:7)

2.                  የዮቅጣ ልጅ፥ (ዘፍ 10:28፣29)

3.                  የአብርሃም ልጅ፥ “ዮቅሳንም ሳባንና ድዳንን ወለደ። ...” (ዘፍ 25:3)

4.                  “እግዚአብሔርም እንዲህ ይላል። የግብጽ ድካምና የኢትዮጵያ ንግድ ቁመተ ረጅሞችም የሳባ ሰዎች ወደ አንተ ያልፋሉ ለአንተም ይሆናሉ እጆቻቸውም ታስረው ይከተሉሃል...” (ኢሳ 45:14)
