Shemaiah ~ ሳማያ፣ ሸማያ: Whom Jehovah heard / EBD, “Shemaiah” means heard by Jehovah / SBD, (1 ነገ 12:22-24)

The name ‘Shemaiah’ is derived from ‘Smeyah’ (ስመያህ) ፥ the root words are ‘Sma’ (ስማ) and ‘Yah’ (ያህ) ፥ the meaning is ‘Jehovah heared’/ Ibid.

ሳማያ ~Shemaiah: ሰማ ያህ፣ ሰማ አምላክ፣ እግዚአብሔር አዳመጠ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ሰሜኢ፣ ሸማያ]

‘ሰማ’ እና ‘ያህ’(ያህዌ ፣ ህያው) ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተገኘ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሦስት ሰዎች አሉ።

·                     ነብዩ ሰማያ፥ “የእግዚአብሔርም ቃል ወደ እግዚአብሔር ሰው ወደ ሳማያ...” (1 ነገ 12:22-24)

·                     ከባቢሎን ከተመለሱ የሴኬንያ ልጅ፥ ሰማያ፥ (ነህ 3:28 ፣ 29)

·                     ከስምዖን ወገን የሆነ፥ ሰማያ፥ (1 ዜና 4:27)
