The name ‘Hegai’ is ‘derived from ‘Hagi’ (ሐጊ) ፥ the meaning is ‘legal, lawful…’ / Ibid.

One of the eunuchs of the court of Ahasuerus, “ ... to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women;” (Est 2:8, 15)
