The name ‘Kadesh’ is derived from the root word ‘Qedese’ (ቀደሰ) ፥ the meaning is ‘holiness’ / Ibid.

“And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites ...” (Gen 14:7)

 ቃዴስ ~Kadesh, Kedesh: ቅዱስ፣ ለጌታ የተለየ፥ የከበረ፣ የተባረከ፣ የተመሰገነ ማለት ነው።

‘ቀደሰ’ ከሚለው ግስ የተገኘ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሦስት ቦታዎች አሉ።

I.                        ቃዴስ /Kadesh: እስራኤላውያን ከግብጽ ከወጡ በኋላ ካለፋባቸው ቦታ፥ ”መልሰውም ቃዴስ ወደ ተባለች ወደ ዓይንሚስፓጥ መጡ...” (ዘጸ 14:7)

II.                        ቃዴስ /Kedesh:

1.                  በይሁዳ በስተደቡብ ድንበር፥ (ኢያ 15:23)

2.                  የይሳኮር ነገድ የሰፈረበት፥  (1 ዜና 6:72)

3.                  ለነፍሰ ገዳይ መማፀኛ ከተማ፥ (ኢያ 19:37)፣  (መሣ 4:6)
