The name ‘Kolaiah’ is derived from ‘Qale’ (ቃለ) and ‘Yah’ (ያህ)፥ the meaning is ‘voice of Jehovah’ / Ibid.

A Benjamite whose descendants settled in Jerusalem after the return from the captivity, “...the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jesaiah” (Neh 11:7)

ቆላያ ~Kolaiah: ቃለ ያህ፣ ቃለ ህያው፣ ቃለ ህይወት፣ ቃለ እግዚአብሔር፣ የጌታ ቃል ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ቅዒላ፣ ቆልያ]

‘ቃለ’ እና ‘ያህ’(ያህዌ ፣ ህያው) ከሚሉ ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሁለት ሰዎች አሉ።

1.                  ከግዞት ተመልሰው፥ በኢየሩሳሌም የተቀመጡት የብንያም ወገኖች፥ “የመዕሤያ ልጅ የቆላያ ልጅ የፈዳያ ልጅ የዮእድ ልጅ የሜሱላም ልጅ ሰሉ።” (ነህ 11:7)
