Kenite ~ ቄናዊ፣ ቄናውያን: The name “Kenites” means possession; purchase; lamentation / HBN, (መሣ1:16)

The name ‘Kenite’ is derived from ‘Qenet’ (ቀነት) ፥ the meaning is ‘held, tightened...’ / Ibid

Accompanied the Hebrews during their wanderings, “And the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father in law, went up out of the city …” (Jud 1:16)

ቄናዊ ~Kenite, Kenites: ቀናያት፣ ቀናውያን፣ ቅን፣ ያመኑ፣ የተገዙ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ቄናት፣ ቄናውያን፣ ቄኔዛዊው፣ ቄኔዝ]

Kenite- ‘ቅኝት’ ከሚለው ቃል የመጣ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሁለት ሰዎች አሉ።

I.                        ቄናዊ /Kenite: የምድያም ካህን፣ ዮቶር፥ “የቄናዊው የሙሴ አማት ልጆችም ከይሁዳ ልጆች ጋር ዘንባባ ካለባት ከተማ ተነሥተው ከዓራድ በደቡብ በኩል ወዳለው ወደ ይሁዳ ምድረ በዳ ወጡ ሄደውም ከሕዝቡ ጋር ተቀመጡ” (መሣ 1:16)
