Levi ~ ሌዊ: The name “Levi” means associated with him / HBN, (ዘፍ 29:34)

The name ‘Levi’ is derived from ‘Levi’ (ልብ) ፥ the meaning is ‘heartfully’, (A descendant of the tribe of Levi) / Ibid.

The third son of Jacob by Leah, “And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.” (Gen 29:34)

Other people with the same name are: Two of the ancestors of Jesus (Luk 3:24, 29); Son of Alphaeus or Matthew; one of the apostles (Mar 2:14; Luk 5:27, 29)

‘ልብ’ ከሚለው ቃል የተገኘ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሦስት ሰዎች አሉ።

1.                  የያቆብ እና የልያ ሦስተኛ ልጅ፥ “ደግሞም ፀነሰች፥ ወንድ ልጅንም ወለደች አሁንም ባሌ ወደ እኔ ይጠጋል፥ ሦስት ወንዶች ልጆችን ወልጄለታለሁና አለች ስለዚህም ስሙን ሌዊ ብላ ጠራችው።” (ዘፍ 29:34)
