Levites ~ ሌዋውያ: “Levites” mean descendants of Levi / SBD, (ዘጸ 6:25)

A descendant of the tribe of Levi, “...she bares him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.”  (Ex 6:25; Lev 25:32; Num 35:2; Jos 21:3, 41); this name is, however, generally used as the title of that portion of the tribe (1 Kin 8:4; Ezr 2:70)

ሌዋውያን ~Levites: ልባውያን፣ ልባዊ፣ የተወደዱ፣ የሌዊ ወገን፣ የሌዊ አገር ሰዎች ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስም- ሌዊ]     

v    የአሮን የልጅ ልጅ ፊንሐስ የሌዋውያን አባት ተብሎ ተጠራ፥ “...እነዚህ እንደ ወገኖቻቸው የሌዋውያን አባቶች አለቆች ናቸው።” (ዘጸ 6:25)

v    ለእግዚአብሔር በኩራት ሁነው ስለተለዩ በእሥራኤል ርስት አልነበራቸውም፥ (1 ነገ 8:4፣ ዕዝ 2:70)
