ሩት ~Ruth: ርትዑ፣ ርኡት፣ ርትኢት፣ ሒሩት፣ ቅን፣ እውነተኛ፣ አሸናፊ ማለት ነው።
‘ረታ’ ከሚለው ቃል የተገኘ ስም ነው።

የኑኃሚን ምራት፥ በጌታ የዘር ሐረግ የተጠቀሰች፥ “እነርሱም ከሞዓባውያን ሴቶች ሚስት አገቡ የአንዲቱ ስም ዖርፋ የሁለተኛይቱም ስም ሩት ነበረ። ...” (ሩት 1:4)
