The name ‘Phanuel’ is derived from ‘Fana’ (ፋና) and ‘El’ (ኤል) ፥ the meaning is ‘light of lord or face of lord’ / Ibid.

ፋኑኤል ~Phanuel: ፋና ኤል፣ የአምላክ ፊት፣ የጌታ መልክ፣ ብርሃናማ፣ አንጸባራቂ ማለት ነው።

‘ፋና’ እና ‘ኤል’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።
