Obadiah ~ አብድዩ: The name “Obadiah” means servant of the Lord / HBN, (1 ነገ 18:3)

The name ‘Obadiah’ is derived from ‘Abdi’ (አብዲ) and ‘Yah’ (ያህ) ፥ the meaning is ‘servant of the Lord’ / Ibid.

One of the six sons of Azel, a descendant of Saul, “And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house ...” (1 kin 18:3)

አብድዩ ~Obadiah: አብደ ያህ፣ የህያው አገልጋይ፣ የአምላክ አገልጋይ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- አብዲኤል ፣ ዓብዳ ፣ አብድያስ]

Obadiah- ‘አብዲ’ እና ‘ያህ’ (ያህዌ ፣ ህያው) ከሚሉ ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

[ትርጉሙ የእግዚአብሔር አገልጋይ ማለት ነው / መቅቃ]

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ አሥራ ሦስት ሰዎች አሉ።

1.                  ኤልዛቤል የእግዚአብሔርን ነቢያት ባስገደለች ጊዜ አብድዩ መቶውን ነቢያት ወስዶ አምሳ አምሳውን በዋሻ ውስጥ ሸሽጎ እንጀራና ውኃ ይመግባቸው ነበር፥  (1 ነገ 18:3)

2.                  የይዝረሕያ ልጅ፥ (1 ዜና 7:3)

3.                  የኤሴል ልጅ፥ (1 ዜና 8:38)

4.                  የይሒኤል ልጅ፥ (ዕዝ 8:9)

5.                  ከአስራ ሁለቱ ደቂቀ ነብያት በአራተኛ ደረጃ የሆነው፣ ነብዩ አብድዩ፥ (አብድዩ 1:1)

6.                  በጺቅላግም ከቂስ ልጅ ከሳኦል በተሸሸገ ጊዜ ወደ ዳዊት ከመጡ፥ (1 ዜና 12:9)

7.                  የቃል ኪዳኑን ደብዳቤ ካተሙት ካህናት፥ “ሜሪሞት፥ አብድዩ፥ ዳንኤል፥ ጌንቶን፥ ባሮክ” (ነህ 10:5፣6)

8.                  በዛብሎን ላይ አለቃ የነበረ፥ የይሽማያ አባት፥ (1 ዜና 27:19)

9.                  የኢየሩሳሌም ንጉሥ ኢዮስያስ፣ የእግዚአብሔርን የአምላኩን ቤት ይጠግኑ ዘንድ ካዘዛቸው፥ የሜራሪ ልጅ፥ (2 ዜና 34:12)

10.              በዕዝራ ዘመን ከግዞት ከተመለሱት፣ የይሒኤል ልጅ፥ (ዕዝ 8:9)

11.              “የሐናንያም ልጆች ፈላጥያና የሻያ ነበሩ። የረፋያ ልጆች፥ የአርናን ልጆች፥ የአብድዩ ልጆች፥ የሴኬንያ ልጆች” (1 ዜና 3:21)

12.              የሰሙስ ልጅ፥ (1 ዜና 9:16፣ ነህ 12:25)
