The name ‘Ophir’ is derived from ‘Afera’ (አፈራ) ፥ the meaning is ‘bearing fruit’ / Ibid.

The eleventh in order of the sons of Joktan, “And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.” (Gen 10:29; 1 Chr 1:23)
