Gethseman ~ ጌቴሴማኒ: “Gethsemane” means an oil-press / SBD, (ማር 14፡32)

The root words for ‘Gethseman’ are ‘Geta’ (ጌታ) and ‘Smne’ (ስምነ) ፥ The meaning is ‘name of the lord’ / Ibid.

The name of an olive-yard at the foot of the Mount of Olives, to which Jesus was wont to retire, “And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: ... While I shall pray” (Mar14:32); (Mat 26:36); (Joh 18:1)

ጌቴሴማኒ ~Gethseman: ጌታ ስመኒ፣ የጌታ ስም፣ ስመ አምላክ፣ መልካም ስም፣ ቅዱስ ስም ማለት ነው።

‘ጌታ’ እና ‘ስም’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

ጌታ የጸለየበት ቦታ ስም፥ የወይን አትክልት ያለበት፥ “ጌቴሴማኒ ወደምትባልም ስፍራ መጡ፥ ደቀ መዛሙርቱንም። ስጸልይ ሳለሁ፥ በዚህ ተቀመጡ አላቸው።” (ማር.14፡32)
