Gabbatha ~ ገበታ: “Gabbatha” means elevated; a platform / SBD, (ዮሐ 19፡13)

The name ‘Gabbatha’ is derived from ‘Gebeta’ (ገበታ) ፥ the meaning is ‘plate’/ Ibid.

Where the judgment-seat, “When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.” (Joh 19:13)

ገበታ ~Gabbatha: ገበታ፣ ማዕድ፣ መድረክ፣ ችሎት፣ አዳራሽ፣ አደባባይ ማለት ነው።

v    ማዕድ፣ የምግብ ጠረጴዛ፥ “እነዚህም ሁለት ነገሥታት ክፋትን ያደርጉ ዘንድ በልባቸው ያስባሉ፥ በአንድ ገበታም ተቀምጠው ሐሰት ይናገራሉ ...” (ዳን 11:27)

v    አደባባይ፥ ጲላጦስ በጌታ ላይ ለመፍረድ ችሎት የተቀመጠበት፥ “ጲላጦስም ይህን ነገር ሰምቶ ኢየሱስን ወደ ውጭ አወጣው፥ በዕብራይስጥም ገበታ በተባለው ጸፍጸፍ በሚሉት ስፍራ በፍርድ ወንበር ተቀመጠ።” (ዮሐ 19፡13)
