The name ‘Geba’ is derived from ‘Geb’ (ገብ) ፥ the meaning is ‘enterance’ / Ibid.

It is named amongst the first group of the Benjamite towns, “The hill And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.” (2 Sam 5:25); (2 Kin 23:8; Neh 11:31)

ገባዖን ~Geba, Gibeon: ገብ፣ ጉበን፣ በር፣ የከተማ መግቢያ፣ ኬላ፣ ድንበር፣ ገበያ፣ ግባት፣ ዳገታማ ቦታ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማች ስሞች- ጊብዓ፣ ጌቤ]

‘ጉበን’ ከሚለው ቃል የተገኘ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሁለት ቦታዎች አሉ።

I.                        ገባዖን /Geba:የብንያም ከተማ፥ “ዳዊትም እግዚአብሔር እንዳዘዘው አደረገ ከገባዖንም እስከ ጌዝር ድረስ ፍልስጥኤማውያንን መታ።” (2 ሳሙ 5፡25) ፣ (2 ነገ 23:8፣ ነህ 11:31)
