Tobiah, Tobijah- ‘ጹብ’ እና ‘ያህ’ (ያህዌ ፣ ህያው) ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

I.                        ጦብያ /Tobiah: የባቢሎንም ንጉሥ ናቡከደነፆር ወደ ባቢሎን ከማረካቸው ምርኮኞች ወደ ኢየሩሳሌምና ወደ ይሁዳ ወደ እየከተማቸው ከተመለሱ፥ “የዳላያ ልጆች፥ የጦብያ ልጆች፥ የኔቆዳ ልጆች፥ ስድስት መቶ አርባ ሁለት።” (ነህ 7:62)

II.                        ጦብያ /Tobijah: በንጉሥ ኢዮሳፍጥ ዘመን የእግዚአብሔርን የሕጉን መጽሐፍ ይዘው በይሁዳ ያስተምሩ ከነበር፥ (2 ዜና 17:8 ፣ 2 ዜና 17:8)
