Sheriffs ~ መጋቢዎች: Babylonian officers / EBD, (ዳን 3:2)

The name ‘Sheriffs’ is derived from the root word ‘Sherefe’ (ሸረፈ) ፥ the meaning is ‘tax collector’/ Ibid.

መጋቢዎች ~Sheriffs: ሸሪፍ፣ ሸራፊ፣ ቀራጭ፣ ግብር ሰብሳቢ፣ ማለት ነው።

Sheriffs- ‘ሸረፈ’ ከሚለው ግስ የመጣ ስም ነው።

ለባቢሎን መንግሥት ግብር ሰብሳቢ የነበሩ፥ “ንጉሡም ናቡከደነፆር መኳንንትንና ሹማምቶችን፥ አዛዦችንና አዛውንቶችን...መጋቢዎችንም፥ አውራጃ ገዦችንም ...” (ዳን 3:2)
