The name ‘Moloch’ is derived from ‘Mluk’ (ምሉክ) ፥ the meaning is ‘king’ / Ibid.

The name of the national god of the Ammonites, to whom children were sacrificed by fire, “But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.” (Amo 5:26)

·                     Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the Lord; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities (Jer 49:1) as Moab was the heritage of chemosh;

·                     Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king (Jer 49:3)
