Elijah ~ ኤልያስ: whose God is Jehovah / EBD, (1 ነገ 17፡1)

The name ‘Elijah’ is derived from ‘El’ (ኤል) and ‘Yah’ (ያህ) ፥ the meaning is ‘Jehovah is the almighty lord’ / Ibid.

“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” (1 kin 17:1)

ኤልያስ ~Eliah, Elijah: ኤል ዋስ፣ ኤል ያህ፣ ህያው ጌታ፣ ኃያል አምላክ፣ ህያው አምላክ ማለት ነው።

Eliah, Elijah- ‘ኤል’ እና ‘ያህ’ (ያህዌ) ከሚሉ ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

[ትርጉሙ ‘እግዚአብሔር አምላክ ነው’ ማለት ነው / መቅቃ]

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሦስት ሰዎች አሉ።

I.                        ኤልያስ /Eliah:

1.                  ብንያማዊው የነገዱ አለቃ፥ “... ኤልያስ፥ ዝክሪ፥ የይሮሐም ልጆች” (1 ዜና 8፡27)

2.                  በዕዝራ ዘመን እግዶች ሚስቶችን ካገቡ፣ ከካሪም ልጅ፥ (ዕዝ 10: 21፣ 26)

II.                        ኤልያስ /Elijah: የሞተን ልጅ ያስነሳ፣ ዝናም ለሁለት ዓመት እንዳይዘንብ ሰማይን የዘጋ፣ ነብዩ ኤልያስ ፥ (1 ነገ 17፡1)
