Ahiman ~አሒማን: The name “Ahiman” means brother of the right hand / HDN, (1 ዜና 9:17)

The name ‘Ahiman’ is derived from two words ‘Aya’ (አያ) and ‘Aman’ (አማን) ፥ the meaning is ‘faithful brother’ / Ibid.

One of the guardians of the temple after the Exile, “And the porters were, Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and ...” (1 Chr 9:17)

The other person with the same name: One of the three giant Anakim who inhabited Mount Hebron, “And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were.” (Num 13:22, 23) seen by Caleb and the spies. The whole race was cut off by Joshua (Joshua 11:21) and the three brothers were slain by the tribe of Judah (Jud 1:10)

አሒማን ~Ahiman: አያ አምን፣ የታመነ ወድም፣ ሰላማዊ ጓደኛ፣ መልካም ወዳጅ፣ታማኝ ወንድም ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች:- ሐማ፣ ሄማን፣ አማና፣ አሜን፣ አሞን፣ አኪመን፣ ያሚን]

‘አያ’ እና ‘አመነ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሁለት ሰዎች አሉ።

1.                  በንጉሥ በር በምሥራቅ በኩል፣ የቤተ መቅደስ ጠባቂ የነበረ፥ “በረኞችም ሰሎም፥ ዓቁብ፥ ጤልሞን፥ አሒማን፥ ወንድሞቻቸውም ነበሩ...” (1 ዜና 9:17)
