Aceldama ~ አኬልዳማ: The name “Aceldama” means field of blood / HBN, (ሥራ 1: 19)

The name ‘Aceldama’ is derived from two words ‘Akale’ (አካለ) and ‘Dem’ (ደም) ፥ the meaning is ‘body of blood’ / Ibid

The name given by the Jews of Jerusalem to a field near Jerusalem purchased by Judas with the money which he received for the betrayal of Christ, and so called from his violent death therein, “...insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, the field of blood.” (Act 1:19)

አኬልዳማ ~Aceldama: አካለ ደም፣ የደም ክፍል፣ ቀይ መሬት፣ ደም መሬት ማለት ነው።

‘አካል’ እና ‘ደም’ ከሚሉ ቃላት የተመሠረተ የቦታ ስም ነው።

ይሁዳ በአመጽ ገንዘብ የገዛው መሬት፣ በዚያም ተደፍቶ ሞተ፥ “በኢየሩሳሌምም ለሚኖሩ ሁሉ ታወቀ፤ ስለዚህም ያ መሬት በቋንቋቸው አኬልዳማ ተብሎ ተጠራ፥ እርሱም የደም መሬት ማለት ነው።” (ሥራ 1፡19)
