Judas ~ ይሁዳ: The name “Judas” means same as Judah / HBN, (ማቴ 1:2፣ 3)

The name ‘Judas’ is derived from ‘Wde’ (ውደ) and ‘was’ (ዋስ) ፥ the meaning is ‘beloved deliverer’/ Ibid.

The patriarch, “Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren the patriarch” (Mat 1:2, 3)

Other people with the same name are: Son of Simon (Joh 6:71; 13:2, 26), surnamed Iscariot, i.e., a man of Kerioth (Jos 15:25). He perished in his guilt, and "went unto his own place" (Act 1:25); A Jew of Damascus (Act 9:11), to whose house Ananias was sent. The street called "Straight" in which it was situated is identified with the modern "street of bazaars," where is still pointed out the so-called "house of Judas." A Christian teacher surnamed Barsabas. He was sent from Jerusalem to Antioch along with Paul and Barnabas with the decision of the council (Act 15:22, 27, 32), He was a "prophet" and a "chief man among the brethren."

ይሁዳ ~Juda, Judah, Judas, Jude, Judea: ዩዳ፣ ይሁዳ፣ ውህድ፣ ተዋሃደ፣ አንድ የሆነ፣ አይሁዳዊ ማለት ነው።

‘ውህደ’ ከሚለው ግስ የመጣ ስም ነው።

I.                        ይሁዳ /Juda:

1.                  በጌታ የዘር ሃረግ የተጠቀሰ፣ የዮሴፍ ልጅ፥ “የስምዖን ልጅ፥ የይሁዳ ልጅ፥ የዮሴፍ ልጅ፥” (ሉቃ 3:30)

2.                  በጌታ የዘር ሃረግ፥ የያዕቆብ ልጅ፥ (ሉቃ3:33፣34) ፣ የአይሁድ ዘር፥ “ጌታችን ከይሁዳ ነገድ እንደወጣ የተገለጠ ነውና፥ …” (ዕብ 7:14) (ራእ 5:5፣ 7:5)

3.                  የጌታ ወንድም በመባል የሚታወቀው፥ “ይህስ ጸራቢው የማርያም ልጅ የያቆብም የዮሳም የይሁዳም የስምዖንም ወንድም አይደለምን? እኅቶቹስ ...” (ማር 6:3)

II.                        ይሁዳ /Judah:

1.                  ከሊያ የተወለደው፣ የያዕቆብ ልጅ፥ “ደግሞም ፀነስች፥ ወንድ ልጅንም ወለደች በዚህም ጊዜ እግዚአብሔርን አመሰግናለሁ አለች ስለዚህም ስሙን ይሁዳ ብላ ጠራችው። መውለድንም አቆመች።” (ዘፍ 29:35)

2.                  “ይሁዳም ባያት ጊዜ ጋለሞታን መሰለችው ፊትዋን ተሸፍና ነበርና።” (ዘፍ 38፡15)

III.                        ይሁዳ /Judas:

1.                  የያዕቆብ ልጅ፥ (ማቴ 1:2 ፣ 3)

2.                  ጌታን አሳልፎ የሰጠው፣ የስምዖን ልጅ የአስቆሮቱ፥ (ዮሐ 6:71፣ 13:2፣ 26)፣ (ሥራ 1:25)

3.                  ከይሁዳ ወገን፥ (ሥራ 9:11)

4.                  ሐዋርያው በርስያን፥ (ሥራ 15:22፣ 27፣ 32)

5.                  ይሁዳ /Jude: ሐዋርያው፥ የያዕቆብም ወንድም፥ (ይሁ 1:1)
