The word ‘Cumi’ is derived from ‘Qome’ (ቆመ) ፥ the meaning is ‘arise, stand up, wake up...’ / Ibid

“And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.” (Mar5:41)
