The name ‘Bethabarah’ is derived from ‘Biet’ (ቤት) and ‘Berah’ (በርህ) ፥ the meaning is ‘you enterance of the house’ / Ibid.

“...Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.” (Jud 7:24)

ቤትባራ ~Beth-barah: ቤተ በር፣ ድንበር፣ የቤት ልጅ፣ ቤተኛ፣ ወዳጅ፣ የተቀደሰ ቤተሰብ ማለት ነው።

‘ቤት’ እና ‘በር’ ከሚሉ ቃላት የተገኘ ስም ነው።

የእስራኤል ሰዎች ከንፍታሌምና ከአሴር ከምናሴም ሁሉ ተሰብስበው ምድያምን ሲያሳደዱ የያዙት ቦታ፥ “ጌዴዎንም። ምድያምን ለመገናኘት ውረዱ፥ እስከ ቤትባራም ድረስ ያለውን ውኃ፥ ዮርዳኖስን...” (ይሁ 7፡24)
