The root words for ‘Jerusalem’ are ‘Yeru’ (’የሩ) and ‘Selam’ (ሰላም) ፥ the meaning is ‘the highest peaceful Place’ / Ibid.

ኢየሩሳሌም ~Jerusalem: የሩሰላም፣ አየረ ሰላም፣ የሰላም አየር፣ ሰላም የሰፈነበት አገር ማለት ነው።

‘አየረ’ እና ‘ሰላም’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

v    የሳሌም ሌላ ስም፥ “የሳሌም ንጉሥ መልከ ጼዴቅም እንጀራንና የወይን ጠጅን አወጣ እርሱም የልዑል እግዚአብሔር ካህን ነበረ።” (ዘፍ 14:18)

v    ከእስራኤል ነገሥታት በፊት እየሩሳሌም በራሷ  ነገስታት ተዳድራለች፥ “እንዲህም ሆነ የኢየሩሳሌም ንጉሥ አዶኒጼዴቅ ኢያሱ ጋይን እንደ ያዘ ፈጽሞም እንዳጠፋት፥ በኢያሪኮና በንጉሥዋም ያደረገውን እንዲሁ በጋይና በንጉሥዋ እንዳደረገ፥ የገባዖንም ሰዎች ከእስራኤል ጋር ሰላም እንዳደረጉ በመካከላቸውም እንደ ሆኑ በሰማ ጊዜ፥” (ኢያ 10፡1)
