Jehoshaphat ~ ኢዮሳፍጥ: “Jehoshaphat” means whom Jehovah judges. / EBD, SBD, (1 ነገ 15፡24)

The name ‘Jehoshaphat’ is derived from ‘Yah’ (ያህ) and ‘Sfnet’ (ስፍነት) ፥ the meaning is ‘Jehovah judges’ / Ibid.

King of Judah, son of Asa, succeeded to the throne, “And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai ...” (1 kin 15:24)

ኢዮሳፍጥ ~Jehoshaphat, Josaphat, Joshaphat: ያህ ሸፍት፣ ያህ ሳፍት፣ ያህ መሳፍንት፣ ህያው ዳኛ፣ የጌታ ሹማምንት ማለት ነው።

‘ያህ’ እና ‘ስፍነት’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ነው።

1.                  የንጉሥ አሳ ልጅ፥ “አሳም ከአባቶቹ ጋር አንቀላፋ፥ በአባቱም በዳዊት ከተማ ከአባቶቹ ጋር ተቀበረ። ልጁም ኢዮሣፍጥ በፋንታው ነገሠ።” (1 ነገ 15፡24)
