The root words for ‘Betharabah’ are ‘Biet’ (ቤት) and ‘A’reb’ (አ’ረብ) ፥ The meaning is ‘family of the arabs’/ Ibid.

One of the six cities of Judah which were situated down in the Arabah, on the north border of the tribe; “And Betharabah, and Zemaraim, and Bethel,” (Jos 18:22); (Jos 15:61)

 ቤትዓረባ ~Betharabah: ቤተ አረባ፣ የአረብ ወገን፣ አረባዊ ማለት ነው።

‘ቤት’ እና ’አረብ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተገኘ ስም ነው።

በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሁለት ቦታዎች አሉ።

1.                  የይሁዳ ልጆች ነገድ ርስት፥ “በምድረ በዳ ቤትዓረባ፥ ሚዲን፥ ስካካ፥” (ኢያ 15:61)

2.                  የብንያምም ልጆች ነገድ ከተሞች፥ “ቤትዓረባ፥ ዘማራይም፥ ቤቴል፥” (ኢያ 18:22)
