The root words for ‘Beersheba’ are’ Ber’ (በር) and ‘Saba’ (ሳባ) ፥ The meaning is ‘bethsaba; son of sheba’ / Ibid.

The name of one of the old places in Palestine which formed the southern limit of the country, “And Hazarshual, and Beersheba, and Bizjothjah” (Jos 15:28)

ቤርሳቤህ ~Bath-sheba, Bathsuha, Beersheba: ቤት ሸባ፣ ቤት ሳባ፣ ቤተሰብ፣ የሳባ ልጅ፣ የሰው ልጅ ማለት ነው። (ውል፣ ስምምነት፣ ቃል ኪዳን ተብሎም ይተረጎማል።)

Bath-sheba- ‘ቤት’ እና ‘ሳባ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

Beersheba - ‘በር’ እና ‘ሳባ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

 በዚህ ስም የሚታወቁ ሁለት ሰዎች እና አንድ ቦታ አሉ።

I.                        ቤርሳቤህ /Bath-sheba: የኤልያብ ልጅ የኬጢያዊው የኦርዮ ሚስት፣ ዳዊት ከወሰዳትና ኦርዮን ካስገደለ በኋላ ሰሎሞንን ወለደች፥ “ዳዊትም ልኮ ስለ ሴቲቱ ጠየቀ አንድ ሰውም። ይህች የኤልያብ ልጅ የኬጢያዊው የኦርዮ ሚስት ቤርሳቤህ አይደለችምን፣ አለ” (2 ሳሙ 11፡3)

II.                        ቤርሳቤህ /Bathshua: የዓሚኤል ልጅ፥ (1 ዜና 3፡5)

III.                        ቤርሳቤህ /Beersheba: አቢሜሌክና አብርሃም ቃል ኪዳን ያደረጉበት ቦታ፥ “ስለዚህ የዚያን ስፍራ ስም ቤርሳቤህ ብሎ ጠራው ከዚያ ሁለቱ ተማምለዋልና።በቤርሳቤህ ም ቃል ኪዳንን አደረጉ። አቢሜሌክና የሙሽራው ወዳጅ አኮዘት የሠራዊቱ አለቃ ፊኮልም ተነሥተው ወደ ፍልስጥኤም ምድር ተመለሱ።” (ዘፍ 21:31-32)፣ (ኢያ 15፡28)
