Bar ~ በር: Used to denote the means by which a door is bolted / EBD, (ነህ 3፡3)

The name ‘Bar’ is derived from ‘Ber’ (በር) ፥ the meaning is ‘door, enterance, gate....’ / Ibid

Used to denote the means by which a door is bolted, “But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof” (Neh 3:3)

v  The shore of the sea; “And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,” (Job 38:10); strong fortifications and powerful impediments, etc. (Isa 45:2; Amos 1:5)

v  Defences of a city (1 Kin 4:13).

v  A bar for a door was of iron (Is 45:2)

v  Brass (For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder (Ps107:16)

v  Or wood, (Behold... the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: (Nah 3:13)

በር ~Bar: በር፣ መግቢያ፣ ደጆች፣ መወርወሪያ፣ መዝጊያ፣ የቤት መቆለፊያ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ቤሪ፣ ቤርያ፣ ቤሮታ፣ ቤሮታይ፣ ብኤሪ፣ ብራያ፣ ብኤሮት]

·                     የበር አይነቶች

v    የቤት መቆለፊያ፥ “የሃስናአ ልጆችም የዓሣ በር ሠሩ ሰረገሎቹን አኖሩ፥ ሳንቃዎቹንም አቆሙ፥ ቍልፎቹንና መወርወሪያዎቹንም አደረጉ።” (ነህ 3፡3)

v    የባህር በር፥ “ሐኖንና የዛኖዋ ሰዎችም የሸለቆውን በር አደሱ ሠሩት፥ ሳንቃዎቹንም አቆሙ፥ ቍልፎቹንና መወርወሪያዎቹንም አደረጉ ደግሞም እስከ ጕድፍ መጣያው በር ድረስ አንድ ሺህ ክንድ የሚሆን ቅጥር ሠሩ።” (ነህ 3:13)

v    ድንበር፥  “በፊትህ እሄዳለሁ ተራሮችንም ትክክል አደርጋለሁ፥ የናሱንም ደጆች እሰብራለሁ የብረቱንም መወርወሪያዎች እቈርጣለሁ” (ኢሳ 45:2)፣ “የደማስቆንም መወርወሪያ እሰብራለሁ፥ ...” (አሞ 1:5)

v    ምሽግ፥ “በሬማት ዘገለዓድ የጌበር ልጅ ነበረ፥ ... መወረወሪያዎች የነበረባቸው ስድሳ ታላላቅ ከተሞች ነበሩበት” (1 ነገ 4:13)

§     በር የሚሰራው:

·                     ከብረት፥ “... የብረቱንም መወርወሪያዎች እቈርጣለሁ” (ኢሳ 45:2) ፣

·                     ከነሀስ፥ “... የናሱን ደዶች ሰብሮአልና፥ የብረቱንም መወርወሪያ ቈርጦአልና።” (ኢሳ 45:2) ፣

·                     ከእንጨት (ነህ3:13) ፣ (መዝ 107:16)
