Isaac
~ ይስሐቅ: “Isaac” means laughter / SBD, (ዘፍ 21፡1-3 ፥ 21:6)
The name ‘Isaac’ is derived from ‘Ysaq’ (ይሳቅ) ፥ the root word is
‘Saqe’ (ሳቀ) ፥ the meaning is ‘laughter’ / Ibid.
The son
whom Sara bore to Abraham, in the hundredth year of his age, at Gerar; “And God
said Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant
with him for an everlasting covenant and with his seed after him.” (Gen 21:1-3)
“And
Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh
with me.” (Gen 21:6)

ይስሐቅ ~Isaac:
ይሳቅ፣ ይስሐቅ፣ መሳቅ፣ ፈገግታ ማሳየት፣ ጥርስን መግለጥ ማለት ነው።
‘ሳቀ’ ከሚለው ግስ የመጣ ስም ነው።
[ትርጉሙ “ይስቃል” ማለት ነው / መቅቃ]
የአብርሃም ልጅ እና የሣራ ልጅ ፥
“አብርሃምም የተወለደለትን ሣራ የወለደችለትን የልጁን ስም ይስሐቅ ብሎ ጠራው።” (ዘፍ 21፡1-3) ፥ “ሣራም፦
እግዚአብሔር ሳቅ አድርጎልኛል
ይህንንም የሚሰማ
ሁሉ በእኔ
ምክንያት ይስቃል አለች።”
(ዘፍ 21፡6)
