Abednego ~ አብደናጎ: The name “Abednego” means servant of light; shining / HBN, (ዳን 2:49)

The name ‘Abednego’ is derived from two words ‘Abde’ (አብደ) and ‘Nega’ (ነጋ) ፥ the meaning is ‘Servant of the light (God as a source of spiritual illumination and strength)’ / Ibid.

The name given to Azariah by gaurd in Babylon, one of Daniel's three companions, “Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego... Daniel sat in the gate of the king.” (Dan 2:49)

አብደናጎ ~Abednego: አብዲ ኔጎ፣ አብዲ ነጋ፣ የንጋት አገልጋይ፣ የብርሃን ታዛዥ፣ የብርሃን አገልጋይ ማለት ነው።

‘አብደ’ እና ‘ነጋ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተገኘ ስም ነው።

የባቢሎን ንጉሥ ናቡከደነፆር ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም መጥቶ ከወረረ በኋላ፥ ለተማረኩ እስራኤላውያን የጃንደረቦች አለቃ አስፋኔዝ ለአዛርያ የሰጠው ስም፥ “የጃንደረቦቹም አለቃ ስም አወጣላቸው ዳንኤልን ብልጣሶር፥ አናንያንም ሲድራቅ፥ ሚሳኤልንም ሚሳቅ፥ አዛርያንም አብደናጎ ብሎ ጠራቸው።” (ዳን 1:7) ፣ (ዳን 2:49)
