The name ‘Arabah’ is derived from ‘A’Rebah’ (አ’ረባህ) ፥ the meaning is ‘multiplied, increased or reproduced’/ Ibid.

The hollow depression through which the Jordan flows from the Lake of Galilee to the Dead Sea, “And passed along toward the side over against Arabah northward, and went down unto Arabah” (Jos 18፡18)

‘ረባ’ ከሚለው ቃል የተገኘ ስም ነው።
