The name ‘Amashai’ is derived from ‘Amash’ (አማሽ) ፥ the meaning is ‘Rebellious, Disobedient, Revolutionary person’/ Ibid.

The son of Azareel, appointed by Nehemiah to reside at Jerusalem and do the work of the temple, “...and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,” (Neh 11:13)

II.                        ዓማስያ /Amashai: በኢዮሳፍጥ መንግሥት ዘመን በፈቃዱ ራሱን ለእግዚአብሔር የቀደሰ የዝክሪ ልጅ፥ (2 ዜና 17:16)
