Zabbai ~ ዘባይ: wanderer; pure. / EBD, “Zabbai” means pure / SBD, (ነህ 3:20)

The name ‘Zabbai’ is derived from ‘Ze’abay’ (ዘ’አብይ) ፥ the meaning is ‘fathely’ / Ibid.

The father of Baruch, who "earnestly repaired" part of the wall of Jerusalem, “After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece,” (Neh 3:20), (Ezr 10:28)

 ዘባይ ~Zabbai: ዘአብያ፣ ዘ አብ፣ አባዊ፣ አባታዊ ማለት ነው።

‘ዘ’ እና ‘አባ’ ከሚሉ ሁለት ቃላት የተመሠረተ ስም ነው።

·                     በዕዝራ ዘመን ከግዞት ከተመለሱ ፣ እንግዳ ሚስቶችን ካገቡ፣ የቤባይ ልጅ፥ “ከቤባይ ልጆችም፤ ይሆሐናን፥ ሐናንያ፥ ዘባይ፥ አጥላይ።” (ዕዝ 10:28)

·                     በነህምያ ዘመን ከተመለሱ፣ ቅጥሩን  በመጠገን ከተባበሩ፥ (ነህ 3:20)
