Ephphatha ~ ኤፍታህ: The name “Ephphatha” means be opened / EBD, HBN, (ማር 7፡34)

The word ‘Ephphatha’ is derived from ‘Ye’ftah’ (ይ’ፍታ) ፥ the meaning is ‘freed, released, untie...’ / Ibid

Uttered by Christ when healing the man who was deaf and dumb, “And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, ‘be opened’.” Uttered by Christ when healing the man who was deaf and dumb (Mark 7:34). It is one of the characteristics of Mark that he uses the very Aramaic words which fell from our Lord's lips (See 3:17; 5:41; 7:11; 14:36; 15:34.)

ኤፍታህ ~Ephphatha: ኢፍታህ፣ ይፍታህ፣ ፍትህ አግኝ፣ ፈውስ ይስጥህ ማለት ነው። [ተዛማጅ ስሞች- ያፌት፣ ይፍታሕ፣ ይፍታሕኤል፣ ዮፍታሔ፣ ፈታያ]

‘ይፍታህ’ ከሚለው ቃል የተገኘ ነው። የቃሉ ምንጭ ደግሞ ‘ፈታ’ የሚለው ነው።

ደንቆሮና ኰልታፋ የሆነውን ሰው ጌታ ለመፈወስ የተጠቀመው ቃል፥ “ወደ ሰማይም አሻቅቦ አይቶ ቃተተና። ኤፍታህ አለው፥ እርሱም ተከፈት ማለት ነው። ወዲያውም ጆሮቹ ተከፈቱ የመላሱም እስራት ተፈታ አጥርቶም ተናገረ።” (ማር7፡34) ፣ ሐዋርያው ማርቆስ (ማር 3:17 ፣ 5:41 ፣ 7:11 ፣ 14:36 ፣ 15:34)
