The name ‘Absalom’ is derived from two words ‘Abe’ (አበ) and ‘Selam’ (ሰላም) ፥ the meaning is ‘great peace’ / Ibid.
The  third son of David by Maachah, daughter of Tamai king of Geshur, a Syrian district adjoining the northeast frontier of the Holy Land, “and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of ... ” (2 Sam 3:3)
